ARE YOU AFRAID OF QUEUES AND TRAFFIC?

bCONNECT is the service that keeps you updated in real time on the traffic situation on motorways and beltways. But this is not all! It is the only infotraffic service that can supply the average coverage speed for the stretch you are interested in and the duration of the traffic event, i.e. the queue length measured in kilometres or the duration of road works, all vital information to decide whether to make a detour and choose an alternative route and plan your trip.

REAL TIME INFORMATION TO SUPPORT MOBILITY

bCONNECT is the only provider actually capable of supplying constantly updated information on the traffic conditions thanks to a widespread network composed of over 20.000 mobile sensors, installed on as many vehicles circulating on Italian and European motorways and beltways.
Thanks to their GPS/GSM technology, the bCONNECT sensors transmit completely anonymous data relating to their vehicle position and speed 24 / day and 7 / week; such information is correctly checked and processed and provides a vital contribution to supply constant information and reports on the traffic situation. This traffic survey system allows bCONNECT to provide car drivers also with the average coverage speed for the motorway stretch they are interested in, any possible delay with reference to the average coverage time and additional useful information  on traffic, such as the incidence of weather conditions or the presence of road works.
The dynamic information surveyed by mobile sensors is complemented with the traditional static on the traffic made available thanks to the collaboration with the European police forces and motorway managers.

INFOTRAFFIC  AND CONNECT NAVIGATOR

The information on traffic and road conditions are supplied also through all the CONNECT interactive satellite navigation systems, available on all the models of the FIAT Group. Simply press the CONNECT green button located near the on-board GSM intercom telephone and talk to your on-board Personal Assistant: an operator of the bCONNECT headquarters will be ready to supply timely updated information on the traffic situation on European motorways and beltways, either by speaking directly or through text messages, everywhere in Europe.

HOW DO MOBILE SENSORS WORK?

The bCONNECT mobile sensors use the AFCD – Advanced Floating Car Data technology, based on the GPS (Global Positioning System) network, by means of which  the position of a vehicle may be tracked, reported on a map and located precisely.
Sensors activate automatically when the car enters an Italian or European motorway or beltway and, thanks to the GSM network, they send a text message to the headquarters each time the speed decreases below a previously set limit. The short message is received by the headquarters managing a database programmed according to a detailed map of the whole motorway network, including gas stations and park areas (necessary to understand whether the speed has decreased because of a voluntary stop or a critical factor). All data received by the bCONNECT headquarters are immediately processed statistically and compared and contrasted with some stable parameters defined according to the motorway map and the information provided by other sources (generally the police, motorway managers etc…). The combined data generate results that allow describing the traffic conditions, traffic jams, delays, queues and the relevant causes (accidents, road works, etc…) in detail. Consequently, INFOTRAFFIC by bCONNECT is the most advanced and effective solution for updated travelling.
